We’ve been lucky with Ruck injuries for the past 1.5 seasons with Cox not missing games and last year Simmonds playing every game.
This year with Cox out this has tested the depth of your backup rucks. There dosn’t seem to be much teams with back up options. Most teams went for Jacobs, Spencer, White who were selected in the first round and have now long since been dropped or injured.
Next year I might spend the bit more to cover the Rucks with a playing rookie. Think alot of teams didn’t go for Nat’s because he was injured in pre-season. I agree that rookie rucks don’t pay off as they don’t make any money but it comes in handy if the 1st & 2nd rucks start missing a few games.
This years choices of Cox & Hille didn’t work when Hille went down but I might go with the 2 premium options and a backup and play an extra rookie on the ground next year. This year the only rookie mid I started with was Rich, could have downgraded an extra premium midfielder like Cornes and got Ottens for Zeibele.
Shit… thanks Chad. I was about to trade Gablett in!!!
Wow.
Rucks are killing me also Dlow. Like you, I started with B. Ottens and Cox. Then went for Sandilands. And yep, I’ve got Spencer and Jacobs warming the pine.
Many of us neglected our 3th & 4th ruck options pre - season because we are used to our 1st & 2nd ruck options playing 22 games each season. I’m now hurting as a result.
I’ll definately be spending more than $75,000 for my 3rd ruck option in 2010.
I’ll be using the remaining 8 rounds as my research for next season. I’ll be looking at which young players are showing signs of taking the next step.
I’m reluctant to read too much into pre - season form (an error I made this year), because the intensity is non - existent when compared to the season proper.

Great show guys. Lacking sex appeal this week.

Cox back in and then gablett out. Still 2 premiums down with SJ and Gablett (assuming cox plays) *sigh*.
