Ta Ebbz, enjoyed the write up. Maloney seems a great option as a 7-8 mid at a bargain price. On Docherty being in the coach's good books is not necessarily an indicator that you can play. But what I saw of the kid I quite liked just not enough of him. Ellis can play too but be hard to go on a limb with him. Atley likewise limb-wise but the push is big for him, prefer Ziebel if I was going to take a Nth player which I am not('cept maybe a ruckman).
Mitch Golby, Green and Patton are all very very interesting cos POD wise they do offer some good value with upside, all can play. Cant wait for Round 2 when we get into the full game instead of that funny game.

Another awesome write-up Eebzz! Keep 'em coming mate!

After these lightning carnival matches my initial thoughts on who is moving closer to getting a guernsey in my team and who is edging towards the exit are below. Obviously with the disclaimer that I know these games don't mean sh*t but it's always fun to play around after some actual data :)

Movin' on up - Moloney, Dusty, Matty Wright, Hep-D, J.Selwood, Fyfe

Movin' on out - Goldy, Byrnes, Knights

@ 3rdmonkey - he may not have Carey's arrogance just yet but it's very early days! Wait until the kid starts destroying packs and clunking those seemingly impossible grabs amongst a litter of bodies. It's certainly not a bad thing though, every power forward needs a bit of strut about them! ;)

Was there a reason why Tom Mitchell didn't play? Or have I been living under the proverbial rock?

Hi guys.

Good to see young Viney with a tagging role. No way do I think that he will continue that role though. Imagine he would of learnt a bit about what the midfield is like playing against some guns. Watts looks far more comfortable up back.

Atley is one of my two smokies (in my team) for this season. Boomer is a freak isn't he? Daw and Currie both looked very promising, seeing Goldy in every second team at the moment, pass.

Rich and Rocky both looked good.

The General, as in Patton is going to scare the shit out of backmen after another pre season or two under his belt, geez he is an impressive sight, and he can obviously play a bit too.

Great write up. I am a big wrap for Karnezis. Also interested on your thoughts on Carltons use of Hampson and Ports preferred #1, Lobbe or Redden? Top site lads well done.

Patton eh? He's just enormous isn't he? Massive human being, leadership written all over him too. Power forwards who come in as leaders from day 1 remind me of Jonathon Brown, Wayne Carey... Patton doesn't seem to have Carey's arrogance just yet though, but it'd be worrying for opposition teams if he did!

Nice work again, eebz. It's times like these that I find myself wondering if, A) Your profile photo is a t-shirt, and, B) If you own that t-shirt. I don't know why these things intrigue me though :p

@Dan

I'm not one to advocate adjusting sides based on one game, but Docherty definitely came out of my AFL Fantasy side in favour of Vlastuin.

Like you said, plenty of time for he (and I) to adapt.

Docherty worried me. Didn't look comfortable defensively and didn't win enough of it offensively. Still plenty of time for him to adapt.

With the lack of forward rookies this year it might be worth paying the extra for Patton.
