Interesting choice - Hayes over Montagna
Why didn’t you spend the extra $11,900
Sometimes Dlow, you just gotta go with ur heart over your head… I’m a MASSIVE Lenny fan, and he has been in my Dream Team every year (except this one up until now, due to not starting in round 1)… And with Montagna’s recent hot form, i can see him gaining more opposition attention, rather than DalSanto…
In the end, i could have picked either and ended up scoring the same each week… But i just love watching Lenny play, so had to get him in my team!
Agree with Lenny being a gun DT player
Was planning to have him in my team but swaped him for S Tuck prior to round 1. Last year was a bit slow but has been on fire this year, price already shot up when it was time to trade Rich out in round 12 when I got Bartel, nice pickup back then, in hind sight would have preferred Lenny.
Hard to tag being a in and under player and NDS getting the main tag most weeks. This year is the first time I’ve seen NDS be able to shake the tag, must be working a bit harder than usual. A year ago all you had to do was stand next to him and he would have no effect on the game, this year he have been very consistant, theres no doubt about his skills.
Back to Lenny, very unique pick this year after missing the first game. Being a Saints fan I’m supprised you didn’t pick up either Montagna or NDS at the start of the year. Montagna finally has delivered, have been following Montagna for a while got into a bit of trouble at the start of his career and found it hard to break into the team playing up forward, now has developed into a top line midfielder. Lets see how he goes next year when teams do a bit more homework on the saints.
BTW Ball dosn’t look the same this year - Even with OP he was still getting the pill in the past and was kicking the odd goal resting up forward but hasn’t had the same effect on the game this year. The game might be getting a bit too quick for him, with his injury problems I don’t think he’ll ever reach his potential that he showed early in his career. At least he isn’t getting his head split open every week, was looking like a mommy a few years ago.
Saint’s look good for the flag, lets hope they can keep the best side on the ground. Got robbed when they lost to Adelaide, maybe there will be a re-match this year? Bloody Jarman!!!!
Toby was just sick of me giving him shit about not having Lenny all year. I’ve been hanging it on him pretty much every week (let’s face it, I’ve had nothing else going for my team) because I know it’s been killing him a little bit inside to not have the great man.
The Montagna vs Hayes debate is very interesting.
Personally, I’d take Montagna because his game is made for dreamteam. Joey’s gut running, ability to find space, sure hands for a small midfielder & tenacious takling translates into massive scores.
On the other hand, I can understand Toby’s love for Lenny.
Lenny Hayes is the heart & soul of the St. Kilda footy club. He never lets his team mates down & I very much doubt he will let Toby down either.
Lets just hope! The last two times i traded him in mid-season, he got injured the following weeks (DOH!)
Couldnt agree with ur analysis more dlow! With Ball, i am hoping it is more form than injury - Saints actually released a statement after his demotion saying that is was form related, which is interesting! He is the type of player to bounce back though!
As far as the start of the year went, i actually was questioning myself (and Dan) as to whether to go for Luke Ball, Montagna or Gibbs… The rest, as they say, is history…
And it looks like Van Berlo is a late withdrawal for Adelaide… Bad news for those already playing with some mids down!
2297 this week boys and girls!! :-)
How’d everyone else go???
2222. It seemed to be a fairly high scoring week based on what a few of my mates got. I know two blokes who topped 2400. I guess there were a few landmines to dodge though (Didak captain, cover for Bartel, Pav, Stevie J). Owners of ROK would be laughing this week!
Sorry I broke Tippett, Toby.
You jinxed him Dan! 2122 with a 0 (Steve J) for me.
Didak was well and truly tagged out of the game, though I guess a lot of people have him. I just hope the match review panel doesn’t see anything in there worthy of a suspension. Fingers crossed.
2260
Ranked 444
Had Didak as captain - Didn’t handle the tag.
Got lucky with Coughlan getting 71 saved me from getting a Zero with Bartel having a week off.
Still trying to hang in there now that I’ve run out of trades with another 6 weeks to go.
Hey guys,
A decent s core of 2,112 for me this week. That’s including no cover for Dean Cox in ruck, Ballantyne covering for Pavlich and Rance covering for Adcock.
I have trades to fix all three issues so I’m not too worried at the moment (I’m ranked at around 9,000).
My work DT league is my priority. :)
Cheers,
Luke
Not bad Luke. How many trades have you got left? We’ve been discussing the last couple of weeks what to do with my Player Of The Week articles to keep them relevant. While most of us are going for league rankings there are a heap of people gearing up for a finals charge and have been saving trades. I might just continue POTW articles as they have been for this reason…at least for a few more weeks.
Thanks Dan - 7 trades + $400K up my sleeve. Puts me in a good position, but for the first time I’m not the top team in my work competition so I may need every last trade and every last cent to finalise my team!
It’d be crazy to have trades and cash left over at the end anyway! If a league win is your aim nothing worse than getting bundled out with trades and cash up your sleeve, especially if you have a narrow loss.
Ideally I’d like to have at least one trade if I advance to a Grand Final - but yes, it’s a difficult situation and you’re right - I don’t want to be eliminated knowing I could have done something more.
Thinking of Aaron Davey to Riewoldt this week, then my boy Kade Simpson to Jimmy Bartel the week after.
This leaves 5 trades entering first week of finals, and given I am on track to finish top 2 - this gaurantees I can use at least 4 out of remaining 5 trades in finals all going well.
Boy, this is a complicated game!
